Springtime is here and there are plenty of things to do! Richmond’s lovely First Friday Art Walk is May 6th which includes 40 venues offering great food, art, and entertainment.
Here at 1708 Gallery, we are showcasing the exhibitions of Michael McFalls’ Recent Work and Kevin Jones’ Chemtrail. These highly sculptural exhibitions inspire us to investigate the objects that make up our world and the cultural significance of these objects. Jones’ work examines the base elements derived from scientific research and what, if any, meaning that holds. McFalls’ work investigates the dualities that exist between the natural and the man-made, and pushes the viewer to contemplate the societal implications of both. For further information regarding these exhibitions please visit the event page. There will be a First Friday Reception including food and beverages from 6 to 10pm on May 6th.
Also, don’t forget to check out the current exhibition at our satellite space, Richmond’s historic Linden Row Inn, Art as the Mother Tongue: A Dialogue between East and West, curated by Richmond artist and 1708 board member Amie Oliver. This exhibition explores the universality of art over obstacles like language barriers and cultural diversities. For more information and location, visit the event page.
