Evidence That We’re Still Here features the work of Murjoni Merriweather, Jermaine Ollivierre, LaRissa Rogers, and Angelique Scott, four artists whose practices explore Black histories and identities, memory and perception, representation and community. The artists’ works presented at 1708 share a focus on ceramics and reflect different approaches to the medium, from practices firmly grounded in ceramics to ones that employ clay alongside other media. For Evidence That We’re Still Here, Merriweather, Ollivierre, Rogers, and Scott are creating new works and expanding on existing projects in conversation with one another.
Evidence That We’re Still Here was envisioned by Ra-Twoine Fields and is organized in conjunction with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference taking place in Richmond, Virginia March 20 - 23, 2024.
