1708 is pleased to present Sadza Series featuring works and a hosted dinner by artists Nyasha Chigama and Tendai Mupita. Tendai and Nyasha are an art collective working in various mediums including ceramic and aluminium sculptures, paintings and prints.

The Sadza Series is a community-wide celebration of Zimbabwean food traditions, and contemporary art hosted by VCUarts Graduate students Nyasha Chigama and Tendai Mupita. Sadza is the ground meal foundation to so many Zimbabwean dishes, it also tells the story of a people. On display during the dinner will be the host’s work as they make connections between the food, ceramics, sculpture, and painting. The series is a call to action that brings mutual aid to the forefront. It is an invitation to friends and colleagues to collectively raise resources and create a web of support for those most vulnerable in these uncertain economic times exacerbated by debilitating inflation costs. The gathering is aimed at assisting Tendai and Nyasha to continue to thrive at VCU while they prepare for their thesis and raise their family.
