Satellite Exhibition

New Faces II

April 10 - August 30, 2015

1708 Gallery is pleased to present New Faces II, a group satellite exhibition at Linden Row Inn featuring works by current VCUarts undergraduate students. Curated by artist, educator, and 1708 Gallery Board Member Amie Oliver, the show includes selections from the Anderson Gallery's 2015 juried fine arts exhibition, which concludes Sunday, April 5th.

New Faces II is the second installment of New Faces, an ongoing satellite series showcasing the work of young artists in Richmond, VA. The initial New Faces exhibition was held in the fall of 2012. New Faces II will be on view at the Linden Row Inn, located at 100 East Franklin Street, April 10 - August 30, 2015. Please join us for an exhibition reception on Friday, May 1, from 6 - 8 pm.

The connection between VCU and 1708 Gallery harkens back to the founding of 1708 Gallery, which began in 1978 as an artist-run space launched by VCU rising art stars, including Joe Seipel, now Dean of VCUarts. The school's reputation has grown over the years, and it is currently ranked the #1 public university arts and design program in the country, according to US News & World Report.

New Faces II includes a wide range of work across mediums, from painting and photography to pieces in clay, fiber, and metal. Giving us a glimpse of the ideas and materials that engage young artists today, these works represent individualized styles and approaches that offer fresh perspectives on making.
